This is the way it goes:
Hair gets long
Cut to shoulders
Let hair grow
Hair gets long
Cut to shoulders
......over and over for years and years.
I want to do something different, but I've never really been brave enough to do anything except cutting it to my shoulders.
Actually, I know what I would like to try, but I can't do it myself. Someone professional would have to do it and I don't trust the hair cutting people at Wal-Mart to be able to do what I want.
See, there is an actress, who has beautifully curly, crazy hair. I would like my hair cut like hers. Here is my problem, I'm too embarrassed to take in a picture of her and say to them 'this is what I want.' I shouldn't be embarrassed, right?
I'm embarrassed at what they might think.
I'm worried that they wouldn't be able to do the haircut the way I want it.
And I'm scared that on me, the hair style would look ridiculous.
So, do I take the scary plunge and go with a picture of the actress and hope that it works out OR do I just go get it cut to my shoulders again?
I want to be brave. It's just hair, right? It will grow. But I'm so scared.

You and I have the same hair patterns! I just had mine cut last week and it's too short. I'm waiting excitedly as it grows but then I will let it get too long and then have it cut again. Maybe it's time I decide to pay more than $13 for a cut and pay a real stylist...
I say you take the step. I have taken pictures in before. I definitely felt weird taking in a picture. But she really appreciated it. Maybe you could just go to someone who you won't see ever again in case it turns out to be a bad experience. And hair does grow and the style that you want is still a "pull the sides up" style if you're in a hurry. But a fun and very pretty style for days you want to feel more feminine. I think it is a really good choice for you. Not too short, not too long. But the weight of the hair is light enough to allow the curls not to be weighted down. I think it is a great style for this time that you live in humidity and the curls want to go wild. You have beautiful curls. It might be fun to show them off a bit. Besides, if you don't like it, you have some really cute hats and snoods(sp?) I say, go for it!! :)
Linnea, going to the $13 hair people is my problem too. I hate to spend more, but when you pay $13, expect a $13 hair cut. Last time I got my hair cut, I told her I want it to my shoulders. She washed my hair, pulled it down to my shoulders and cut. Well, because of my curls, when it dried, it was well above my shoulders. It was not bad, but if they couldn't follow the one simple request I had, I'm not sure I trust them again to try something different....
Thanks Lena. I'm thinking I'll be brave next week after I turn in my final school project. It will be my reward to myself for getting through my first year of grad school. :)
